Make Limnionas your perfect holiday destination. Find out if we have availability for your holiday dates or just ask us a question…
Limnionas is a small and unspoilt village with a beautiful bay and the imposing Mount Kerkis (or Kerketeus) as a backdrop. There is one road into the village that leads down to the beach.
The gently curving beach is mainly sandy and not crowded. There are sun beds owned by various establishments. A day’s hire is usually €5.00 per bed and the owner will come and find you for payment during the day.
The sea is very safe for swimming and, for snorkellers, the rocks at each end of the beach are interesting to visit. There is also a cave to swim round to at the eastern end. You will also see some pedalos, speedboats and similar watersports equipment. These are for hire but the owners may be enjoying some hospitality elsewhere!
Nightlife revolves around the tavernas where eating and drinking and enjoying the evening are the main attractions. There are no night clubs or discos to distract from the peace and quiet – although the Sea Park Café can get a bit lively as the ouzo starts to flow!
Down at the beach on the left hand side (as you look out to sea) is the Limnionas Restaurant. This has a terrace overlooking the beach and offering a variety of fresh cooked fish and traditional oven cooked food. The owners encourage you to visit the kitchen to choose from the daily offerings.
Moving along the beach, the next taverna is the Balcony of the Aegean. This has a raised balcony overlooking the bay. The food, again, is mainly oven cooked traditional with the option of visiting the kitchen to choose and recently the menu has been extended and offers more fresh grills than before.
Next along the beach is the Sea Park Café Bar. This is ideal for a sandwich or salad or omelette and so on for breakfast or lunch. It also stays open in the evening serving cocktails and cold drinks. It can get lively when the music plays or a big football match brings the armchair fans out!
Following the road next to the beach you come to the Eri Oyzion. Run by Akis and his mother Sofia, the menu is wide and various including oven cooked and grilled food. They will always explain what is available and what is the special of the day. It, too, has a raised balcony overlooking the bay and the lights of Kambos and Ormos can be seen in the evening.
For the adventurous eater, following the road up from the Eri Oyzion and around the hillsides beyond Limnionas bay will bring you to the Restaurant at the End of the World. This is ideal for a large lunch before or after a swim at the beach that can be found below the taverna. The walk to the taverna is about 2.5km and the route down to the beach is a scramble, so be prepared! The End of the World is generally only open at night if booked beforehand.
There is one mini market in Limnionas, directly opposite Studios Ioanna and sells a selection of food and wines. It has fresh bread each morning and fruit and vegetables from the local area. It also has the only Post Box in Limnionas and will sometimes have stamps to sell.
